Kara Jones
Kara grew up in a familly who valued and participated in the Arts and was encouraged as a young child to spend her free time exploring and playing outside in nature or in the Arts area of her childhood home which was filled with art supplies, instruments, and her dad's beloved PA system.
Inspired by her musical family, she has played many instruments over the years, primarily focusing on guitar, voice, cello, violin and piano. While pursuing a Music Education degree in college, Kara took coursework in classical guitar, voice, strings & ethnomusicology, and played in the Steel Pan and African Drum Ensembles. Enraptured by traditional African music, she became the first music student from her college to teach abroad in South Africa. Kara received a statewide scholarship recognizing her diverse and innovative teaching techniques.
Enlivened by world music, rock, indie, classical music and her family's early country roots, Kara arranges and writes music in a variety of genres.
She has performed with various groups including classical guitar ensembles, rock bands, string quartets, orchestras, choirs, a touring folk and world music group, drum groups, and recently has been focusing on session recordings and collaborations with various artists as well as her own songwriting which can be described as folk/rock/indie featuring fingerstyle guitar, cello, and soothing and sometimes playful lyrical melodies.
Kara's love of acting began at a young age as well whilst playing lead roles in several school plays as well as singing and playing in the orchestra pits for high school musicals. She took theater coursework in college and has enjoyed coaching musical theater students in her private lesson studio. Her additional studies in acting for film have lead her to small roles in Hollywood feature films and commercial work.
